At Arturo Healing Hearts, we believe music can offer something medicine alone cannot: comfort, calm, and connection. We are a student-led nonprofit placing high school musicians in hospital settings to share the healing power of live solo performances—bringing peace and presence to patients during some of their most vulnerable moments.
Live music has been shown to reduce anxiety, ease pain, and offer emotional relief for patients and caregivers alike. Whether in oncology units, surgical recovery floors, infusion centers, or hospital lobbies, the presence of music gently transforms clinical spaces into more human, hopeful environments.
“I created Arturo Healing Hearts because I’ve seen how music can reach where words cannot. When I play in a hospital, I’m not just performing—I’m offering a piece of myself, a quiet moment of comfort to someone who might really need it.
My dream is for other students to do the same across hospitals everywhere.”
— Ava Silva Costa, Founder
We’re currently recruiting a compassionate roster of high school solo musicians across New Jersey—students who want to use their talent for good. As this network grows, we are actively seeking hospital partners who share our belief in holistic, human-centered care.
We’re especially eager to collaborate with facilities who want to explore the therapeutic potential of live music and reimagine what comfort can look like in a healthcare setting.
Even if we don’t yet have volunteers available in your region, we’d love to keep in touch.
